Currys is recruiting for around 1,000 seasonal retail roles across the UK and Ireland, as the country's biggest omnichannel tech retailer gears up the festive period.
Vacancies are open now, with the first colleagues starting from 11th October and contracts running until 2nd January 2027 across Currys’ 296 UK and Ireland stores. Those interested can apply at www.curryscareers.co.uk.
Last year, almost half of its seasonal retail colleagues (49%) were offered a permanent position once Peak trading ended.
Every new starter also completes a two-day virtual induction before their first shift, built to leave them feeling prepared, confident and connected to the wider business from day one, a level of investment that is unique in the industry.
The starting rates of pay are £12.71 per hour, and £13.96 per hour in London stores.
For many of those who join, the role will be their first experience of paid work. That route matters more than it has in years. Office for National Statistics figures show more than a million 16-to 24-year-olds in the UK were not in education, employment or training earlier this year, the highest total in over a decade.
For others, it will be a way back into employment after time away, a source of flexible income around family or study, or a chance to try a completely different career direction.
With millions of customers turning to Currys over this period, seasonal colleagues will be on the shop floor and behind the tills in stores across the UK and Ireland, at exactly the moment shoppers most need help finding, understanding and setting up the technology they buy.
“Every year, Peak gives people right across the country their first experience of the world of work or their way back into it. That matters to us so much. Almost half of last year's seasonal colleagues are still with us, and that tells you what a Christmas job at Currys can become. At a time when more than a million young people are locked out of education, employment or training, retail still has a job to do: giving people a genuine way into employment.”
Currys' Chief People Officer Caroline Hirst
Minister for Employment, Andrew Western, said:
"Christmas is always a busy time for retail, and Currys' recruitment drive is great news for the thousand workers set to benefit from these new roles.
"We know how vital early work experience is to building a lasting career, which is why it's fantastic to see almost half of last year's seasonal workers offered permanent positions.
“We are determined to break down barriers to opportunity for young people, and this is underpinned by our £2.5 billion youth employment investment to create almost a million opportunities to earn or learn."
